Solar On the Pavement: The Swedish–American Quest to Turn Highways, Ports, Airports, and Bus Stations into Power Plants
In the global race to decarbonize heavy transport, the road has always been the problem: a vast, expensive, and passive stretch of asphalt that demands constant maintenance while offering nothing in return. But a Swedish-American collaboration is now turning that logic on its head.
Swedish-American Innovation Sprint: New SEK 15M Fund Targets Global Mobility and Societal Resilience
A new funding call, "Deepened International Collaborations for Healthy and Resilient Societies," is now officially open. Managed by Vinnova, Sweden's innovation agency, the initiative offers strategic grants to bridge the Atlantic, fostering long-term partnerships that address the most pressing crises of the 21st century: health stability, climate-secure food systems, and civil defense. The call closes on June 15.
New Transatlantic Tool Simplifies Urban Planning by Turning Real-Time Data into Traffic Insights
Sweden and the USA are joining forces to address a gap in the transport planning tools set, where there is a lack of monitoring tools that offer near real-time functionality and also integrate with the planning processes. By fusing information from mobile networks and road sensors, this project provides city planners with an agile tool to make faster decisions for cleaner, more efficient cities.
New Project Will Advance AI-Powered Airbags for Children on Bikes
The vulnerability of children in bike seats is a physics problem that traditional gear hasn't yet solved. Research shows that in high-impact collisions, head injury thresholds can be exceeded by 23 times. Future Mobility now welcoming Cocoon into its portfolio—a project dedicated to developing an AI-powered airbag system that creates a "safety envelope" for children on bikes.
