Exchange for more BETs is a Future Mobility-funded project and collaborative effort between Sweden and the United States. The project parties, CALSTART and e-Mobility, Lindholmen Science Park have been involved in many early deployments seeking to study how zero-emissions trucks perform in real-world fleet operations. The project goal is to have actors in Sweden and the United States share knowledge and learn from each other’s experience with the early development of the zero-emission truck market.
“In the project 'Exchange for more BETs,' we, as a Swedish organization, are cooperating with an organization in California called Calstart. They are conducting similar projects to ours concerning the electrification of heavy-duty trucks. Our interest is to learn from each other
I believe that the US, as well as several actors in Europe, are at the forefront of electrification. They are early adopters, and we encounter the same challenges pretty much at the same time. There are a lot of opportunities to work on these solutions together towards policymakers and suggest various proposals to legislative bodies, transport organizations, and other stakeholders.“
– Nikita Zaiko, project manager, Lindholmen Science Park e-Mobility.

The project will identify successful deployments, operational strategies, and policies that worked in both countries in various logistic applications.
Researching the results of past and current deployments and presenting the learnings from each country will help speed the transition to zero-emission trucks and the growth of clean transportation in general. During the project, ideas for potential future collaborative activities will also be discussed.
Best practices will also be shared through open webinars to actors in both countries.
Future Mobility catalyzes research and innovation collaboration within sustainable mobility between the US and Sweden.
With dedicated resources in both countries, the Future Mobility initiative aspires to lower the thresholds to collaboration. We offer three types of support to actors in Sweden or in the United States interested in collaborations within sustainable mobility:
📍Inspiration and knowledge related to collaborations between Sweden – the United States
📍Matchmaking to help you identify relevant innovation partners
📍Guidance towards potential funding sources.
If you have a collaborative idea but lack the resources to develop it, we can assist you in finding funding. We can propose relevant funding schemes in both countries, and we are happy to support you in the development of an attractive project proposal.
Future Mobility is financed and facilitated by Sweden's Innovation Agency, Vinnova, and led by Lindholmen Science Park.
