The Street Value Tool

Roads crossing, the street lamps are in purpule which gives a futuristic look

This project seeks to develop The Street Value Tool as a web app and adapt it for North American Cities. The main objective of the tool is to help planners and decision-makers change streets, predominantly problematically car-oriented, to greener, walkable, bikeable, livable urban spaces.

It will be a collaboration between cutting-edge practitioners in street design in Sweden (Spacescape & RISE) and the US (Street Plans), with extensive networks within public, civic and private sectors. American and Swedish planners will be engaged in the process and test the tool in ongoing street projects. Planner user experience will be documented and integrated into the tool design process.

The list of US municipalities being approached includes Jersey City, Miami Beach, and Tampa. Swedish municipalities that will be involved are The City of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Umeå. The project will contribute to strengthened innovation cooperation between Sweden and the USA since it connects the research partners and planners at the municipalities in both countries.

A main objective of the tool is to help planners and decision-makers to change streets, predominantly problematically car-oriented, to greener, walkable, bikeable, livable urban spaces.

Project manager: Alexander Ståhle, Spacescape AB

Parties: Spacescape AB, OAWA On A Wednesday Afternoon AB, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB and Street Plans Collaborative Inc.

Period: 2023 to 2024
